Moving answers · When a mover lets you down

How do I know the weight the movers charged me for is real?

On an interstate move priced by weight, you have the right to watch every weighing. The mover must tell you when and where each one will happen. It must use a certified scale and give you a separate weight ticket for each weighing with your bill.

If you think the weight is wrong, ask for a reweigh before anything is unloaded. The reweigh is free. Your final charges will be based on the reweigh weight, even if it comes out higher.

Any waiver of the reweigh must be in writing, so don't sign one you don't understand. Ask the driver for the scale location and time when you're at the truck, and put the question in a text so you have a record.
