What size shipping container do I need to move abroad?

Inside, a 20-foot container holds about 33 cubic meters, a 40-foot about 68, and a 40-foot high cube about 76. Loads rarely use more than about 85% of that.

Small loads can go in a shared container (groupage or LCL), where you pay for your share of the space and wait for it to fill.

Moving abroad works out the size from the boxes and furniture you've actually entered.
