Liquor and wine stores (strong, small, with dividers for glasses), Buy Nothing groups, Facebook Marketplace and Nextdoor, office recycling, and friends who've just moved.

Some truck-rental stores run box exchanges where people leave boxes they no longer need.

Check each box is dry, clean and firm before you trust it with anything heavy.
