How long do I have to file a claim for damage or missing items?
On a move between states you have nine months from delivery to file a written claim.
The mover must acknowledge it within 30 days and pay or refuse within 120.
Write the damage on the delivery paperwork before you sign, photograph it the same day, and send the claim in writing — a phone call isn't a claim.
Local moves follow your state's rules and the contract; read the bill of lading.
